Buying for Good

What if your everyday shopping quietly funded the causes you care about?

Buy what you already buy, at stores that take part. A small share of each purchase goes to a charity, at no extra cost to you.

  • No extra cost Shoppers pay the normal price.
  • Local stores Participating businesses fund the gift.
  • Your choice Pick the charities you support.
  • Every purchase counts Coffee, fuel, groceries.
  • Open books See where every dollar goes.
  • Australian charities Registered with the ACNC.
  • Good for business Loyal customers who come back.
  • Not for profit Built to give, not to earn.

Small amounts, spent by many people, add up to something large.

Australians make millions of card purchases every day. Buying for Good connects a few of them to the people and places that need help, without anyone changing how they shop.

What if

What if buying your morning coffee helped a surf club buy a new rescue board?

What if a business could grow by giving, not by discounting?

What if a small charity didn't have to spend half its year asking for money?

What if all of this happened without anyone paying a cent more?

The big idea

Three groups, each giving a little and gaining a lot. Our logo is the three of them standing together.

  • Businesses give a small share of eligible sales and win loyal customers.
  • Supporters shop as usual and choose where their share goes.
  • Charities receive steady funding they can plan around.

How it works

  1. Join for free

Register and choose up to three charities.

  2. Shop as usual

Pay with your card at participating stores.

  3. Watch it grow

See how much your shopping has given each month.

Why this matters

One week of ordinary shopping.

$0.00 given this week

Example amounts at a 2% share.

  • Coffee$5.50
  • Groceries$86.40
  • Fuel$62.00
  • Pharmacy$24.90
  • A birthday gift$39.95

Now picture 50,000 people doing the same. That is about $219,000 a week for Australian charities.

Where the money goes

Every dollar is traceable from the till to the charity.

Who checks the numbers?

An independent auditor reviews the accounts every year. The report is published here.

How are charities chosen?

Only charities registered with the ACNC can join. A small panel reviews each application.

Can the share change without notice?

No. Businesses commit to their share for at least 12 months, and any change is shown to supporters first.

What do running costs pay for?

Payment processing, the website and a small team. They are capped at 5% of funds received.

I started Buying for Good because giving should be part of everyday life, not an extra chore. I promise every dollar will be accounted for, in public, every year.
